Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari took a direct jibe at the Governor for praising the state's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said that listening to the Governor's speech, it felt as if he was rehearsing a formal speech before the budget session in the Bidhan Sabha. Shubhendu Adhikari taunted by tweeting the picture of 'Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler'.
Incidentally, Governor CV Anand Bose compared the Chief Minister with Sarbapalli Radhakrishnan, APJ Abdul Kalam and Atal Bihari Vajpayee during the conferment of D.Litt degree on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from St. Xavier's University. Governor CV Anand Bose said that Mamata Banerjee is one of those politicians who have set a unique example in literature. The Chief Minister is not getting this honor for politics, but for literature.
Taking a dig at the Governor's statement, Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari tweeted, "The hon'ble Governor's speech on the occasion sounded as if he was rehearsing for the customary speech which he'll read out at the beginning of the upcoming Budget Session of WB Legislative Assembly."
In another tweet, he targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by posting a video of the Governor's remarks. He tweeted, "I partly agree with Hon'ble Governor's assessment that CM @MamataOfficial is like Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister responsible for the 1943 Bengal famine; arguably the worst genocide in human history resulting in over 4 million deaths from starvation & malnutrition."
